My old home

As I noted in this post, I grew up in Peterborough, NH next to the old Sargent Camp. It seems where I lived has now been sold to the Harris Center:

We are thrilled to announce that the Harris Center has purchased 109 acres on Brush Brook Road (Route 137), much of which is ranked by the New Hampshire Wildlife Action Plan as “highest” value wildlife habitat.

There’s a map showing the property here. It’s very nice that the land will now be preserved as open land, but the buildings will not be preserved. Here’s the barn being dismantled and here is the house being used for fire training exercises. I find it interesting that the barn was just dismantled given that the barn was built at the end of the 1700’s and so was about 220 years old.

In any case, it’s a bit depressing.
