He represents the Catholic perspective?

It isn’t news that the Catholics rescinded it’s invitation to this guy, it’s news because of why they invited him:

“Although the intention of the conference organizers was to have a presenter on Islam from a Catholic’s perspective, we are asking Robert Spencer to not come to the Worcester Catholic Men’s Conference, given that his presence is being seen as harmful to Catholic–Islamic relations both locally and nationally,” Raymond Delisle, a spokesman for the diocese, said in a statement issued to the Globe.

Really, they think his is the Catholic perspective? Here’s one of his recent posts:

The people’s verdict on the “strict” version of Sharia that the Islamic supremacists had imposed. Apparently Mali is being overrun with greasy Islamophobes. “Suspected Islamists hunted down and beaten in liberated Mali towns,” by Jerome Delay

Notice the gratuitous ‘greasy’, notice his approval that ‘suspected’ Islamists are being hunted down and beaten (and killed). And this is the type of person the Catholic Church thinks will give a presentation from the Catholic perspective? Interesting.
